So… Who Am I?

I recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond, with a major in Rhetoric and Communication Studies and a minor in Theatre.

A lot of people ask me, with a Communication Studies major and a Theatre minor, what are you planning to do?

I tell STORIES through STRATEGIES.

Theatre taught me how to express my culture and identities under the spotlight, and Communication (Marketing) showed me how to promote the unheard stories.

And most importantly, in a society where people need humanities more than ever, the combination of Theatre and Marketing has equipped me with empathy and the ability to FEEL and CHANGE the world around me.

MAKE THEM HEAR YOU.

Annabelle In Shanghai

My personality holds the weight of the city that raised me.

Shanghai, a city that never slows down, a city with blinding lights, endless traffic, and fashion styles that changes before you even blink…

But when you look closer and really feel the pulse of her, you will see — beneath the rush, there are plane trees standing quietly on every street, old bricks and stones holding centuries of stories, the delicious smell of food traveling far beyond the alleyway, and most importantly, the warm hearted Shanghainese who truly make this city your HOME.

She taught me to be ambitious but never cold, to move fast but carry kindness, and to stand tall while keeping my roots deep.

As a new immigrant who came to the U.S. only four years ago, adapting into a new culture and living between identities is not easy, and a lot of times I’m living in between cultures and wondering who I actually am.

But I know I’ve inherited from my mother city something unshakable:

To have courage to belong to anywhere.
